Alex är en ung dansare som för att överleva jobbar som svetsare på dagarna och som exotisk dansös på kvällarna. Alex kämpar för att bli antagen till en prestigefull balettakademi. När Alex upptäcker att hennes pojkvän, Nick, som även äger fabriken hon arbetar på, har försökt att hjälpa henne att bli antagen på balettakademin blir hon ursinnig.
